Cincinnati Bell's Home Security Service Earns Five Diamond Central Station Certification

03/24/09
Complete Protectionsm Provides Faster Response Time than National Security Companies

CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 24, 2009-- Demonstrating its commitment to delivering superior service, quality and value, Complete Protectionsm by Cincinnati Bell Inc. (NYSE: CBB) recently became the only home security monitoring service in Greater Cincinnati and Dayton to earn the Five Diamond Central Station certification from the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA).

“Quality of service is the No. 1 criteria that customers use when selecting a home security provider and earning this certification illustrates our employees’ dedication to provide the best home security service possible,” said James Lively, manager of security and connected home services for Cincinnati Bell. “According to the CSAA, less than 4 percent of all central stations in the United States have received Five Diamond certification. As the hometown communications provider, we take great pride in delivering superior quality and service in the communities where we live and work alongside our customers.”

In order to meet the CSAA Five Diamond requirements, 100 percent of Complete Protection’s home security monitoring employees needed to pass the organization’s Central Station Operator Training Course and demonstrate high levels of:

  • Proficiency in alarm verification, which helps reduce false alarms;
  • Proficiency in communications with the Public Service Answering Points, such as the Emergency 911 centers;
  • Knowledge of electronic communications equipment;
  • An understanding of the codes and standards of such organizations as Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual, the National Fire Protection Association and others; and
  • Proficiency in the area of emergency preparedness under a wide scenario of possibilities.

Faster Response Time

In addition to having the only local monitoring station with Five Diamond and Underwriters Laboratories certification, Complete Protection has an average response time of just 17 seconds. Some national security companies use a process known as “dialer delay,” which can result in as much as a 90 second delay between the time an alarm is received and a monitoring agent places a call to the customer’s premise. To better ensure the safety of its customers, Cincinnati Bell does not to use dialer delay.

With Complete Protection a customer may be able to save up to 15 percent on their homeowners insurance. In addition, customers can bundle Complete Protection with other Cincinnati Bell services for additional value and convenience.
